Turf questions, answered

Short answers about ordering, delivery, collection and getting your new lawn to root.

Ordering and prices

How do I order?

Pop your size into our order form, check your postcode, pick delivery or collection, choose a day and pay through Square's secure card screen.

How is the price worked out?

Square metres become whole rolls, and the roll count sets the price band. Delivery is added for your postcode. See our turf prices.

What's the latest I can order?

Order by 2pm the working day before your delivery or collection at the latest, but please order as far in advance as you can to avoid disappointment. On occasion, later ordering may be possible where a date shows as available.

Can I order a large amount?

Yes. Big orders are paid for online at the standard prices like any other. You can also ask for a bulk quote with the quantity, delivery address and postcode, timing, delivery or collection, and access notes.

Delivery and collection

Do I need to be in?

No. We'll text you when your turf is on its way and after it's been delivered, though the message won't always arrive at the exact moment it's left.

Where will the rolls be left?

We deliver to your property or the closest suitable and accessible point. We'll always leave your turf in the most convenient place we reasonably can, where it's possible and safe. On occasion we may not be able to leave it exactly where you'd prefer.

Where do I collect from?

North of the city, near Newcastle Airport. You'll find the location and directions in your confirmation email. There's no charge for collecting.

My postcode isn't covered. What now?

Message us with your postcode to talk through the options. Anyone can collect.

How do I count my rolls?

Collecting: count before driving off. Delivered: count once they're dropped off and before any go down, and send us a photo that same day if the number or condition looks wrong.

Some rolls have torn edges. Is that a fault?

No. Turf is lifted by a harvesting machine, so ragged edges and the odd roll in two pieces are normal. They knit together once laid and watered.

When should I lay it?

On the day it arrives. Have the ground dug, raked and levelled beforehand so you can start straight away.

How should I water new turf?

Soak it right after laying and keep it moist until the roots take hold. Lift a corner now and then: the soil underneath should be damp.

When can I mow?

Once it has rooted and started growing. Set the mower high for the first cut and take only the tips off.
