Turf laying terms
If we're laying your lawn, these terms and your written quote make up the agreement between us.
Quotes
Quotes are based on what you tell us and send us (measurements, photos, notes) and on a site visit where we make one. A quote stays open for the time written on it; with no time written, it's 7 days.
Everything included is listed on the quote. Usually that's preparing the ground, supplying and laying the turf, and removing waste where needed, with builders' rubble priced as a separate item. Prices include VAT.
Should the garden, access, size or soil prove different from what we were told or could reasonably see, we'll explain what's different and agree any price change with you before carrying out extra work.
Deposit and balance
Your date is only booked once you've accepted the quote and paid a £100 deposit, which is deducted from the final bill.
Pay the remaining balance on the first day of work, by card or bank transfer. Until it's paid, turf and materials remain our property.
Cancelling within 14 days
As you'll accept your quote online, by phone or somewhere other than our premises, the law gives you 14 days from accepting to cancel. Email us to do so.
Where you've asked us to begin inside those 14 days and you cancel before work starts, you pay for turf, materials and costs already committed to your job that we can't get back. When work has started on site, the whole price is payable.
One email to info@buyturfnewcastle.co.uk giving your name, address, the job and the date you accepted is enough to cancel.
Later changes
Cancel after the 14 days and the deposit is kept against our costs. Move your date instead and the deposit carries over. Any turf already ordered or cut for you is chargeable.
Dates, weather and site access
We fix dates in good faith. Weather, wet or frozen ground, supply problems or an earlier job running long may mean moving yours; if so, we'll tell you and rebook the closest suitable date. Larger jobs can run over more than a day.
We need safe and clear access to the lawn, a place to park and unload, and an outside tap or other water supply.
Getting the garden ready
Please move garden furniture and anything else in the way, and keep pets indoors or away while we work.
Point out any buried pipes, cables, drains or irrigation and mark where they run. We can't accept responsibility for damage to services that weren't pointed out and couldn't reasonably be seen, or for anyone else's work.
Natural variation
The look of turf varies through the seasons. If a particular variety is unavailable, a comparable one of similar quality may be used.
Looking after the new lawn
Fresh turf needs plenty of regular water, and we'll leave you aftercare guidance. Weather, soil, watering and use decide how well it roots, and those are out of our hands after laying, so there's no guarantee that the lawn will take.
Spot a problem? Send us photos as early as you can and we'll do what we reasonably can.
Photographs
Before-and-after photos or video of the lawn may be taken for our records and marketing, concentrating on the grass rather than people or the house. If you don't want them used for marketing, say so before work starts.
Liability
If we break these terms or fail to work with reasonable care and skill, we're liable for loss you suffer that was foreseeable as a result. We aren't liable for losses that weren't foreseeable or for business losses.
We don't limit liability where the law forbids it, for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, and nothing affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Personal details, updates and law
Your details are handled as described in our privacy notice. These terms can change; the version sent with your quote, or online when you book, is the one that applies. They're governed by English law.
